FREMONT, CA: Moldworx LLC is a full-service contract manufacturing company that specializes in customized design and development of injection molds, precision automation, assembly and laser marking equipment, and injection molding of engineering thermoplastic components that can be utilized for a range of markets. Presently, the organization has declared its expansion to a new facility.
The 24,000 plus square foot stand-alone provision has approved Moldworx to bring together its mold and equipment manufacturing facility with the injection molding facility. The company will have all its capabilities in a unified facility, due to which it will become easy for them to accomplish better efficiencies and collaborate between the departments. Presently the company employs 35.
The company's injection molding branch in recent times has added two injection molding presses bringing its total to 10, which ranges from 55-400 tons. The organization even plans to start providing White Room molding services for the medical sector along with its contract manufacturing services. The facility consists of overmolding, heat staking, and the advancement of automation that can be used for product assembly and work-flow process design and engineering.
The company has also started to make FDA approved face masks so that it can help to meet the demand for such products during the coronavirus pandemic. The organization was contacted through Facebook social media by someone who wanted a 3D print face masks through the #makethemasks movement. Moldworx was also able to adjust the original 3D printing file by creating an injection molded version and then designed and built the mold.
The masks are produced from the pliable thermoplastic polyurethane material. They are even comfort fitting that can be reused and also has a replaceable FDA approved N95 filter feature. The mask consists of these simple filter components or a twist-on cartridge filter that is presently being manufactured by W.L. Gore. "We estimate we can produce and ship 2,400 units a week with the ability to quadruple production if needed," said President and CEO of Moldworx, Jim Taylor.
