Cancer remains monotonous for everyone around the world. Starting from the human, the cancer is widely spreading in every organism including dogs. According to the National Canine Cancer Foundation, one in three dogs has a high tendency to get cancer. In humans, there is a plethora of reasons for cancer. The DNA's of the body, especially microRNAs increases the possibilities of cancer in the human being. In order to block messenger RNAs from creating new proteins, microRNAs bind some messenger RNAs. It may lead to cancer symptoms. But, clinically, there was not enough information about the collision of microRNAs and messenger RNAs. The microRNAs are difficult to separate from the blood sample.

According to the report in the journal Nature Nanotechnology, the researchers at University of New South Wales in Australia has found out a way to grab the microRNAs from the blood using magnetic nanoparticles. Sam Gambhir, MD, Ph.D. has been occupying the roles of professor and Chairman of Radiology at Stanford. He devised a thin magnetic wire that is capable of attracting the cancer cells from the bloodstream. The magnetic nanoparticles are injected to scour the blood in search of tumor cells. When the nanoparticles identify the presence of tumor cells in the bloodstream, the cells are compelled by the magnetic force. The nanoparticles cling toward the tumor cell, thereby destroying it from the blood.
The magnetic wire devised by Gambhir not only limits cancer, but it identifies any disease biomarkers present in the blood. So far, the nanoparticle-based magnetic wire has been tested out only in pigs. As pigs and humans share similar veins, the research results in pig also favor the same in humans. To undergo the test in humans, Gambhir has planned to get approval from the Food and Drug Administration.
The cancer biomarkers assays are the upcoming approach that provides ultra-high sensitivity and specificity in cancer biomarker detection. Earlier cancer detection is always a sought after goal in the medical industry. When the disease has been detected early, the chances of curing it is also high. But, the detection methods of cancer, especially in blood, are yet to reveal its benefits.
