Activ Surgical announced the formation of a European Advisory Board investing in its promise to democratize surgical care.
FREMONT, CA: Activ Surgical, a digital surgery pioneer, announces a European Advisory Board's formation to invest more in its commitment to democratize surgical care and authorize global access to best-in-class surgery, irrespective of the location. It can also save millions of lives in the process. The European Advisory Board, which includes world-class surgeons from top hospital systems across the European Union (EU), will advise Activ Surgical on the organization's go-to-market efforts for ActivSight's first product that will be launched from the ActivEdge platform in 2021. It also provides strategic input on future product plans. The EU Advisory Board will work by partnering with the company's U.S. Advisory Board formed in 2019.
Activ Surgical announced the opening of its European operations and the appointment of Holger Schipper as the general manager and vice president. Along with the newly structured EU Advisory Board, the European team will be given the task of growing visibility and demand for ActivSight and the ActiveEdge platform. It will allow combined and, in the future, autonomous surgery to integrate computer vision, artificial intelligence, and robotics. The hardware-agnostic platform helps the present surgical systems, starting from scopes to robots. It becomes easy to visualize, characterize, and track tissue in real-time beyond today's human capability.
"I am thrilled to announce this esteemed group of surgeons as the founding members of our European Advisory Board," said Schipper. "Each of these appointees has extensive, firsthand experience regarding the current and unique challenges surgeons face in the operating room, and they share our vision for improving patient outcomes via breakthrough technology. Their expertise will play a critical role in the commercialization of our ActivEdge platform not only in Europe, but across the globe."
According to the Advisory Board, Activ Surgicals vision and mission for the democratization of surgery are closely associated with the scientific and academic research, which they have cooperatively supported for most careers. There is a dire requirement in the operating room to efficiently use technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve patient safety and reduce surgical errors. They are looking forward to guiding Activ Surgical as it looks to commercialize the potentially-life saving ActivEdge platform all over Europe and beyond.
