Surgical innovation will remain driven by minimally invasive approaches. Flexible endoscopy has become an increasingly vital component of minimally invasive surgery as many interventions that were previously treated with open or laparoscopic surgery now can be accessed via natural anatomical routes, further minimizing tissue trauma to the patient and hopefully promoting rapid recovery. As these procedures become more sophisticated, the demands placed on surgical instruments continue to grow.
Success in therapeutic endoscopy depends on more than simply reaching the target area.
