Shelby McCarty, Director of Imaging Services–Midwest Region

Shelby McCarty, Director of Imaging Services–Midwest Region, Renovo SolutionsShelby McCarty, Director of Imaging Services – Midwest Region at Renovo Solutions, exemplifies strategic leadership and operational excellence in healthcare management and imaging services. In the last year, he has managed rapid growth and developed solutions that align with Renovo’s “Self-Perform” service model. His capacity to lead teams, facilitate collaboration, and develop service capabilities underlines his commitment to providing customer care and supporting success for the organization.
Building Momentum across the Midwest
McCarty’s journey reflects steady advancement through critical moments that shaped him as a leader. During the recent evaluation period, he successfully managed service operations across the Midwest region during a period of significant growth. He provided onboarding, training, and guidance to the newly hired Regional Director of Operations for SHO, ensuring a seamless transition through reference documents, customer contacts, and valuable tribal knowledge. Acting as Regional Director before leadership was in place, he partnered with Mike Landis and Dan Adams to implement Baptist, Margaret Mary, and Hancock accounts. His role included recruiting and hiring new staff, ordering test equipment for SHO sites, setting up service portals, and ensuring inventories and budgets were loaded in RenovoLive. He also facilitated imaging pre-inspections and related meetings with new customers.
He identified same-store growth opportunities across the Midwest. He worked closely with Regional Directors, Account Managers, and hospital leadership to finalize them at sites such as Baptist SE TX, MCR, Hunt, and UK. He assessed service gaps and programmed training for imaging service engineers while forecasting training budgets. Notable examples include coordinating Siemens CT training for Rachel Chennault and collaborating with hospital leadership to adopt the Self-Perform model during the transition away from VSC. He also forecasted FDC reductions for the UK and engaged leadership to capture those opportunities.
Focusing on Safety and Collaboration
His leadership extends to responsibility and safety. McCarty collaborated in planning and deploying service teams for startup projects at Baptist SE TX and SHO, ensuring smooth imaging preinspections. He partnered with Quality Assurance on enterprisewide safety concerns, particularly Lockout/Tagout procedures, and successfully implemented the required safety systems. Culturally, he engaged customers in open discussions on service improvements, quality, and cost reduction, often during working lunches that strengthened relationships. Regular check-ins with Regional Directors and imaging team members fostered open and honest communication, as well as strong support, across the region.
Innovating for Lasting Impact
McCarty spearheaded major initiatives that enhanced Renovo’s operations. He designed and implemented the RITS team and tracker, delivering over $1.2 million in cost savings and expanding service capabilities. He proposed and championed the expansion of remote monitoring, which later evolved into RenovoWatch, and helped introduce Glassbeam. He guided improvements to the Critical Device Alert and operational status tracking in RenovoLive, integrated ten new approved vendors to reduce downtime, and co-led the Imaging Service Strategy Committee to strengthen the Self-Perform model. Additional achievements include designing a CEU-producing presentation for ICE, co-leading monthly MRI wellness calls to prevent failures, and assisting in the publication of the Ultrasound Service Flowchart to align with PartsSource Pro workflows.
He addresses challenges through strategic service planning for new Midwest sites such as Baptist and SHO. He created vendor field service engineer maps to simplify service at the OEM and modality level. His vision and scope enable him to transition seamlessly from detailed engineering conversations to overall strategy. He collaborates with hospital staff, imaging engineers, and leaders to ensure that service delivery consistently exceeds expectations. His clear written communication helps answer questions and reduces the need for follow-ups.
With trust in his support system and resources, McCarty cherishes the partial independence that propels his success. His career demonstrates that engaging, thinking innovatively, and speaking openly is essential for professionals seeking to thrive in healthcare management/imaging services.
