ConvaTec’s Infusion Care franchise is squarely focused on providing disposable infusion sets to manufacturers of insulin pumps. These infusion sets have been specifically developed for use in continuous infusion treatment of conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and primary immunodeficiencies and pain management. In addition, the company has developed Infusion Care Diabetes—an external, computer-controlled insulin pump—that allows diabetic patients to receive continuous delivery of insulin to the body round the clock. The disposable device is connected to the pump via tubing and injected into the patient’s body, allowing the insulin to be delivered subcutaneously (under the skin into the subcutaneous tissue). The neria™ infusion set range coupled with infusion pumps allows patients with Parkinson’s disease to deliver a specified continuous amount of the drug when required, adjusting the amount as needed during the day.

For apomorphine delivery, patients can insert an infusion set under the skin and connects it to the infusion pump. neria™ infusion sets are rigorously tested and approved tested (in vitro) for use with apomorphine. neria™ infusion sets are also tested (in vitro) for use with immunoglobulin therapy. For immunotherapy, these devices align with the number of sites and needle size that can influence the flow of medication. neria™ infusion sets empower patients with a wide of products to choose from as per their requirements. The devices comprise a thin needle design to help minimise pain during insertion. The self-adhesive pads used for this product range are skin-friendly and eliminate the usage of extra adhesive. While strong double layer tubing ensures secure constant drug flow, it also enables low tubing prime volume and minimises drug wastage. Patients can also mitigate needle stick injuries with a needle safety system on neria™ guard and neria™ soft 90. The standard Luer-lock connection and tubing disconnect on most products reduces limitations and allows patient freedom.
