RainTree Oncology Services, the community oncology alliance, in collaboration with Information Builders, business intelligence (BI) and analytics, information integrity, and integration solutions, has launched OncoExplorer, a new cloud-based analytics portal that offers unprecedented decision-support capabilities to pharmaceutical companies. Insights derived from OncoExplorer will OncoExplorer by helping researchers develop clinical and pharmaceutical protocols, leading to better outcomes for patients.
The latest addition to the RainTree Analytics suite of products, OncoExplorer provides clinical and administrative information about the use of oncology medications, along with HIPAA-compliant access to electronic medical record data, pharmacy dispense data, selected lab data, and claims adjudication summaries. As the largest source of oncology information amassed from community oncology practices, it offers pharmaceutical companies a convenient way to gather information from a single secure location. Longitudinal reports let users follow the patient treatment journey and drill down into clinical patterns and patient treatment pathways.
RainTree used Information Builders’ iWay integration and integrity products to implement the patient index, data cleansing engine, and data warehouse. It also used Information Builders’ WebFOCUS BI and analytics platform to create the portal presentation layer and analytics workbench. “Information Builders has the technology we need for front-end reporting and analytics, as well as for back-end master data management,” said Scott Skellenger, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at RainTree.
OncoExplorer and related RainTree analytic applications enable cancer researchers to trace the complete oncology patient history, from the time of initial diagnosis to the present day. “Authorized users can see every therapeutic and supportive care drug that patients receive and compare them to specific lab results as they monitor disease progressions,” explained John Dempsey, President of Pharmacy Services at RainTree.
Pharmaceutical companies can purchase subscriptions to review the data or export it for their own analysis. All patient data is scrubbed, filtered, and stripped of any personal identifiers, per HIPAA and HITECH guidelines, using Information Builders’ iWay Master Data Suite.
This unique oncology portal is the first of many analytic products that RainTree is preparing for the healthcare industry, all of which will be based on Information Builders’ cohesive technology platform.
“RainTree has developed a best-in-class technology platform that transforms clinical oncology data into actionable information,” said Gerald Cohen, President and CEO of Information Builders. “By gathering data from the leading oncology practices in the country, they have created an analytics platform that is unparalleled in this industry. Information Builders is pleased to support RainTree’s BI and data management vision going forward.”
