MedCrypt Acquires MedISAO to Increase the Safety of Medical Devices
MedCrypt has announced its acquisition of MedISAO to increase the safety of medical devices.
FREMONT, CA: MedCrypt (San Diego), a healthcare cybersecurity organization, has recently acquired Irvine, Calif.-based MedISAO, which is a cybersecurity information-sharing company that operates with the medical device sector.
Now, MedCrypt can offerMedISAO’sinformation-sharing analysis network for small and midsize businesses. The company can also provide the Cyber Protek software bill of materials (SBoM) and their dependency vulnerability management device. Daniel Beard, the founder of MedISAO, isa part of MedCrypt after acquisition.
The CEO of MedCrypt, Mike Kijewski, told in a news release that the FDA might take almost six months to a year to provide a new medical device its 510(k) clearance. However, their motive is to assist the device manufacturers to meet the conditions of the FDA’s premarket and postmarket cybersecurity guidance. It can be possible to accomplish this with the help of MedISAO’s information-sharing and software bill of materials tools. By collaborating, they are helping manufacturers produce vital medical devices to bring it in the market more rapidly, consistently, and safely.
In the guidance related to postmarket cybersecurity, the FDA has promoted medical device manufacturers to contribute to the vulnerability sharing companies. Presently, MedISAO is one of only three information-sharing and analysis companies that was developed to deal with this proposal from the FDA.
According to Beard, in the initial stage, he developed MedISAO so that it can help fill the gap of information-sharing for the medical device manufacturers who have just started to adopt cybersecurity. As the demand for the platform started to increase, they realized that the consumers required a software bill of materials tools due to which they developed Cyber Protek. Collaborating with MedCrypt will be beneficial for clients of both the companies as they can determine, expedite, and manage the cybersecurity compliance. It will also increase security and reduce the time consumed by the lifesaving tools to get launched in the market.
