That was then when accurately predicting wound healing trajectories was difficult for wound care clinicians due to the complex and dynamic processes involved in wound healing. But today, smartphones, artificial intelligence (AI), and even predictive analytics help diagnose, assess, and more effectively treat wounds. These technologies can be used on any kind of wound--from diabetic ulcers to burns--and in any setting--from hospitals to outpatient clinics. All of today's wound care innovations share a common goal: to provide more focused treatments that lead to better outcomes.For example, measuring or visualizing the tissue pressure and identifying early risk for breakdown have traditionally been subjective, requiring a list of symptoms or conditions to determine the potential injury. However, new ultrasound scanners can now detect changes in tissue that indicate developing wounds like pressure ulcers before visible signs are present. These advances will allow caretakers to intervene earlier and prevent the actual development of a pressure ulcer.That being said, AI-powered smart bandages will soon be used to treat severe wounds, monitoring the healing process, and delivering various stimuli when appropriate.
