December - 20186With an aging population and a growing focus on value-based healthcare, the demand for more sophisticated medical equipment and procedures has become all-time high, and biomechanics is right in the thick of it all.Biomechanics applies classical mechanics (statics, dynamics, fluids, solids, thermodynamics, and continuum mechanics) to biological and medical problems. Biomechanical factors are profoundly influencing the processes of tissue growth: its development, maintenance, degeneration, and repair. Regenerative strategies to restore damaged tissues and create living tissue replacements have recently begun to harness advances in the understanding of how cells and tissues sense and adapt to their mechanical environment. Thus, biomechanical considerations are becoming fundamental in the successful development of clinical therapies based on the principles of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for a broad range of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, craniofacial, skin, urinary, and neural tissues. Biomechanical stimuli hold the key to producing regenerated tissues with higher strength and endurance.Apart from that, biomechanics is also playing a vital role in many medical applications such as designing organ substitutes for implants, predicting and preventing bone failures, detecting aneurysms, and improving athletic performance. In fact, today, biomechanics is the secret behind many of the modern, groundbreaking healthcare techniques that are becoming commonplace in the medical landscape, such as ultrasound, MRI, and other imaging techniques. These medical technologies can also take credit for developing modern pacemakers, dialysis machines, and diagnostic equipment--which is evidently leveling up the yardstick of present-day healthcare practices. That said, MedTech Outlook's editorial board has evaluated the leading-edge biomechanics solution providers in the market that are evoking a new-age medical landscape.Let us know your thoughts.
